Lingerie girl

Just a quick sketch I made in school… I wanted to post it because I like it a lot for some reason. Possibly because I made it in a couple of minutes, but it doesn’t look bad. :D

Witches [thumbnails]

I know it’s not even close to Easter, but I wanted to draw witches, actually four of them. For every basic element: fire, water, wind, earth. I think it was good to use those elements because then it was easier to design the witches and their clothes, and later it’ll be easier to design also their colors. I wanted to draw other elements too, but it can wait for now.

And I wanted to draw something fantasy-based, in a bit of a Terry Pratchett-style. I’ve never read his books but I’ve had a calendar based on his stories, and I just loved it. It was “Fool’s Guild Yearbook” for 2001, and the illustrations were made by Paul Kidby.

I started with little thumbnail sketches first to see if it’ll be easier to make the actual character drawings when you have reference sketches ready. I’ve never really used thumbnails before. And it was fun to draw little witches first, because the sketches were pretty small in size.

Anyway, four witch ladies. Order is: fire, wind, water and earth.

Skater boy [colored]

I colored the Skater boy-drawing tonight, and decided to make a separate post for it, instead of editing the previous one. I’m loving more and more to color pencil sketches digitally, because the finished works look very good. And I learned new tricks with this one, so practicing is never a waste of time.

Skater boy

I’ve missed drawing by hand, after drawing so many digital pieces recently, so I took my pencils and started to sketch. To be honest, I felt kinda rusted even though it hadn’t been that long… Maybe a little over a week, but luckily it lasted only for a while. I made couple of awful sketches, but then I got this idea of a skater boy. I’ve never skated my myself, but I think it’s a fascinating hobby.

And since I had seen John Robinson playing Stacy in “Lords of Dogtown”, I decided to use him as the reference. Only the facial features, because I didn’t want to draw a portrait. But he has a pretty face, and his long hair was perfect! I hardly ever draw guys or characters with long hair (except women).

A simple pencil work, edited in Ps.

Jess

It’s Mid Summer, and I’m at home suffering from an awful back pain! Nice. I can’t walk properly because it hurts so much, except if I bend myself to be in a 90-degree position. Which is very comfortable of course…

Because of my back pain, which doesn’t feel so bad when I’m sitting, I’ve been drawing all day. Sitting is the only thing I can do now. So I decided to draw one of my OCs after a year or so and take a little break from drawing “Sky Roamers”. Jess is one of my dearest OCs, and I should draw him more often but I haven’t had the time. Better late than never, though.

I made the sketch with different shades of pencils and edited it a bit in Ps. Nothing big.

From the tavern…

Another character sheet from Sky Roamers, featuring the tavern master and the bartender. They don’t have actual names yet because I got a sudden inspiration just to draw them, without writing down their profiles first. I actually finished them on my way from Seinäjoki to Tampere, when we were sitting at the train station for two hours last night, from 12am to 2am. Funn. ~

Anyway, they will be a big part of Sky Roamers’ storyline. Probably another two main characters, besides Jeanth, Esmelia and Edmont. They’re not a couple, they’re more like companions.

Character sketch

Couple of new character sketches. The other one is Diamond, who was already in my previous post. The WIP in that post was from this sketch. The other character is called Shooter, which is a bit odd because his weapon is a claw. But Shooter sounds cool. ;)

Sketches

Some sketches I made today. These are for the traditional animation-class which started today, and we were doing some “gesture sketching”. It’s actually pretty fun and teaches you a lot, and it’s also fast. And it seems I was having a little “Brokeback Mountain”-moment there in the last one. <3

Raven WIP

Another WIP-post…

I’m working on a piece called “Raven”, and I’m trying to polish my coloring style. I made the sketch pretty quickly, took me only about half an hour, and the coloring process has been pretty quick too. Surprisingly, because usually I spend hours digitally coloring my drawings. And I think I could easilly reduce that time because I tend to concentrate too much on some details and parts and end up being unsatisfied with them in the end.

This is for my own story I’ve been working on lately, and my own character. He’s called Arnaud but also known as Raven. Yeah, there’s a raven sitting on his back. Looks like one heavy bird…
