Michael Fassbender - speedpainting

Michael Fassbender, speedpainting - click for a bigger size

I was asked to paint two more Michael Fassbender-paintings after the one earlier this year, and finally I have enough time to actually fill the task. I made special brushes for this one and started painting differently than before, by making the overall shape and going from “big to small”. Usually I’m stuck with details for too long and then I lose my nerves… Also, I used the black-and-white technique again and colored it later, and I’m very satisfied how this one turned out.

I call it a speedpainting although it’s more detailed and finished looking than speedpaintings usually are, but this one was quickly made. It took me around 4-5 hours.

And I also made a WIP-sheet of the painting process. It’s been over a year since my last one. Click to see it in full size.

Jeanth & Grelot WIP

More Jeanth Beu-concept art work…

I sketched this portrait already a while ago, but it was waiting on my table to get colors. I wasn’t sure how to color it but then I decided to leave the sketch untouched and add digital colors. It works well, I just need to clean the pencil sketch a little bit.

And about Grelot… She’s a girl and Jeanth’s pet. She’s a river weasel. I don’t think such creatures exist, but anyway… I don’t usually draw animals, but after sketching Grelot a couple of times, I’ve fell in love with her. She’s adorable and cute with her little jingle bell (hence she’s called “Grelot”), and adding her to Jeanth’s portraits makes drawing also him a lot more fun.

Diamond WIP

I have finally time for some character concept art! I’ve really missed it, although drawing “Here I Am” was so much fun too. But it was more like real work, and I’ve missed digital coloring.

This is a WIP of my new original character called Diamond. I decided to use a female main character in my next story, because “Here I Am” had Jonathan as the main character. And Diamond is way different from Jonathan, but so is the story too. It has scifi and fantasy-elements, and it’s not a melancholic drama like “Here I Am” was.

(And I love to use my own font in everything I draw nowadays. Because it’s 100% sure no one else has a font like that!)

Anyway…

(And little trivia: her name comes from Billy Talent’s song “Diamond on a Landmine”. I absolutely love that song.)

Here I Am - character WIP

I’m living, breathing and dreaming “Here I Am” because the deadline is getting closer. It’s 10.5. and I still have lots of inking to do. Luckily I’ve finished over 50% of the whole comic, and I’m pretty sure I’ll finish it in time. 12 pages in total.

And I haven’t really had time for anything else, except “Here I Am”. But I’ve grown to love my little comic, so I don’t mind.

Anyway, I decided to post a WIP of the main character who’s called Jonathan Chasm. It’s a digital painting, and it’s been sprawling in my digital art work-folder for some time now.

Raven WIP

Another WIP-post…

I’m working on a piece called “Raven”, and I’m trying to polish my coloring style. I made the sketch pretty quickly, took me only about half an hour, and the coloring process has been pretty quick too. Surprisingly, because usually I spend hours digitally coloring my drawings. And I think I could easilly reduce that time because I tend to concentrate too much on some details and parts and end up being unsatisfied with them in the end.

This is for my own story I’ve been working on lately, and my own character. He’s called Arnaud but also known as Raven. Yeah, there’s a raven sitting on his back. Looks like one heavy bird…
